Valley Fresh Harvest plants pitstop in the Ridge Beginning January 25th

Welcome to the year two thousand twenty three! It may seem like not much happens with farmers in these cold, dark, dormant months, but I assure you, Tim and I have been crossing t's and dotting i's in order to redesign and connect once more with a network of more than a hundred farms in neighboring counties interested in making a living by producing food for you.

Yes, you. The person reading this. The person who is feeling the punch to the pocketbook when a paycheck buys only a third of the cart that you were able to provide for your family this time last year. Right now, the gap in prices between the two month old produce you choose at the store and the fresh picked organic produce from the farm picked this morning or yesterday is the smallest gap we have ever seen in America.

It feels so magnificent to finally be partnering with like minded professionals and experts in their field who believe in food security and affordable, dense nutrition for families eager to cook meals and focus on preventative health.

More than a decade ago, I rented a little shop at 190 W Main street in Grand Ridge. There, I shared my own daily habits as I learned how to recover and face a wicked truth in the dark eyes of hopelessness as shown to me by pill pushing conventional medical professionals. Whether you've joined me for a creekside yoga class or taken a 90 day challenge in holistic coaching for weight management, or if you were one of the 37 families on our farm subscription for weekly produce pickup, I feel honored you chose Grateful Plains and EnergyPsi meditation sessions to guide your journey.

Words cannot describe how Tim and I feel today, knowing many of you will benefit from our relentless perseverance to withstand the brutal reality of global pandemic repercussions. Amidst the murk and madness, an elusive gift for some that we cherish now that we are on the other side of fear and uncertainty, is trust in those that have come before us to gather up strong-willed trailblazers to build a system that actually works. And invite us greenhorns to light the match.

Our passion burns white hot! Our farm, Grateful Plains, grows abundantly. Our shop, The Greenery, is waking up to greet our interns, school clubs and individuals eager to raise funds to support their pursuit of floriculture therapy and skillset development. Some will study and grow in the sacred fields and greenhouse of Ohm Sanctuary. Others will volunteer to man our weekly farmer's market pickup and take their learning to renowned Agriculture and Business programs across the globe. All will discover something they Love, Grow their mind and heart and Give back to our rural community.

Thank you for each kind word along the way. Huge thank you for every single order that inspires us to keep the doors open and hold the vision for holistic preventative health for thousands of households in a fifteen mile radius. We believe.

My husband is a fifth generation corn and soybean farmer. I'm a beginning farmer eager to teach many more women how to turn a profit in small farm specialty cropping. We trust.

We are very proud to announce that for the 2023 season, beginning right now, today, this day, you may order fresh produce each and every week of the year for pickup in Grand Ridge on Main Street!

This is not the same as our single farm CSA program of yesteryear. No, this is Big Picture! This is nearly one hundred of us, local farmers, cooperating and supporting each other. This is literally like ordering your groceries from Neighbor Farms and then picking them up in a two hour window on a particular day of the week.

Tim and I invite you to sign up for the Valley Fresh weekly menu blast today; do it right now, in fact. Even if you are not sure whether you will actually participate regularly. Valley Fresh, Down at the Farms and Grateful Plains along with many farmers in training sitting on the edge of their tractor seats to see this demand surge, get to see from your responses that this is a welcome addition to the Illinois River Valley. It matters to us that we get to grow for you. That we get to love you with dense nutrients and share our farming stories.
